Community Participation Services (CPS)
CPS participants are currently volunteering at Ephrata Area Social Services, Dynamis World Ministries, Bible Centered Ministries International, Art of Recycle, and Country Gift & Thrift. Beginning next week CPS participants will also start volunteering at an organization called Unto (https://www.unto.com/).
In addition, CPS staff continue to take participants out in the community a couple times each week to various locations across the county. Since returning to Lighthouse in June, participants have gone for walks at the Ephrata Rail Trail and Lititz Springs Park, fed ducks at Long’s Park, walked around at Park City Mall, looked at all the cool animals at That Fish/Pet Place, visited the trains at the Strasburg Railroad, and more!
Below are Lori R and Emily H enjoying crafts at the New Holland Park. What a beautiful day!
Small Group Employment (SGE)
SGE participants currently work at several different businesses completing a variety of job tasks. Participants are gaining experience in tasks related to the fields of lawn care, cleaning and janitorial, and assembly and packaging. Employment specialists coach participants at businesses such as Levi’s Building Components, Salem E&R Church, Eastern Lancaster County Library, and Kauffman’s Fruit Farm & Market, as well as several churches and residences that receive lawn care services. Our participants just started providing janitorial services at CrossFit Unlimited, as well. Check out Alejo, Valerie and Alicia hard at work at CrossFit Unlimited!
Supported Employment (ODP)
Lighthouse employment specialists Jackie Baskett and Sam Lopez work with Lighthouse participants who are in different stages of their employment journey. Sam is starting to work with an individual on job finding and development. Jackie is currently providing on-the-job coaching for four individuals at businesses such as Banana Republic in Lancaster and Dutch-Way Farm Market in Gap. She is also providing job finding/development services for one individual, and career assessment for two individuals.
Supported Employment (OVR)
Josiah Bacon, Lighthouse’s OVR Services Coordinator, currently provides on-the-job coaching for four individuals. These individuals work at Cherchies Specialty Foods in Chester Springs, Pony Express Foods in New Holland, and Faithful Living Community in Denver. Josiah is also working with five individuals on pre-employment skills as they actively seek jobs. There are also three clients who are going to various businesses to complete Community-Based Work Assessments to help determine what types of jobs would be a good fit.
